Nordic Walking

Nordic Walking is a great fitness workout for people who are looking for fun, physical activity and maximum health benefits combined with convenience.

Nordic Walking – Exercising for your Health and Fitness has never been easier!

Nordic Walking is a safe, efficient workout that is spreading rapidly all over the world. It’s a low-stress, total body workout that’s fantastic for weight-loss, and great for your body and mind.  It will keep you fit, toned & healthy, and most anyone can do it – regardless of age, weight, or gender.

How does it work?

Instead of merely walking, you actively use a pair of poles in the style of a cross country skier. Walking with poles in accurate coordination activates all parts of your upper body. In addition to your legs it strengthens the core, the back and the arms. At the same time – when getting used to the new movements – Nordic Walking relaxes your muscles.

The Benefits of Nordic Walking

Nordic Walking is one of the most effective cardiovascular workouts because it works all major muscle groups in the body.  Recent studies show that Nordic walking burns more calories, increased oxygen consumption, and can be up to 46% more efficient than normal walking.

Nordic walking is also great for weight loss. By using the Nordic Walking poles, you increase your heart rate on average 10-15% more than normal walking. This means you can burn up to 450 calories per hour; much more than normal walking, which only burns approximately 280.

Normal walking, even with a fast pace and good stride, only uses approximately 70% of the muscle mass in the body at any given time. Put some Nordic Walking poles in your hands, and with the proper technique, you will now be utilizing up to 90% of your body’s muscle while increasing your heart rate significantly.
